Development project for the Koidula rail border station between 2008 and 2012.

Project overview

The Koidula rail border station development project carried out between 2008 and 2012 included the organization of several public procurements, but primarily expert review and owner supervision during the construction of roads, railways and buildings. The total value of the development project was approximately EUR 57 million.

1. The first construction contract for the Koidula rail border station, with a construction value of approximately EUR 18 million. Works included about 1.8 million cubic metres of earthworks, construction of 4 new bridges and repair of 3 bridges, culvert construction, about 5 km of new roads and yards, 4 electrical substations with medium- and low-voltage networks, outdoor lighting, water supply with borehole pump house, firewater pumping station, drainage, sewerage and treatment facilities.

2. Construction of the railway infrastructure at the Koidula station, with a construction value of approximately EUR 19 million. The project included railway superstructure works over about 25.4 km, including material supply and partial design. It also included 10 station tracks, supply and installation of 38 turnouts, construction of patrol, maintenance and footpaths, and installation of fencing, a train weighing system, a portal crane and a train brake inspection system.

3. Construction of station buildings at the Koidula station, with a construction value of approximately EUR 5 million. The project included a station and office building (3 storeys, closed net area about 2,800 m2), a customs and veterinary warehouse building (2 storeys, closed net area about 1,300 m2) with the associated platforms and loading structures, and a maintenance point (2 storeys, closed net area about 1,000 m2). The project also included a dog kennel, paved areas around the buildings, external utility networks for electricity, potable water, firewater supply, wastewater sewerage and stormwater sewerage, as well as low-current systems and building automation.

4. Construction of the electronic interlocking system at Koidula station, with a construction value of approximately EUR 7.5 million. The project included signaling and safety systems for 25.4 km of railway lines at the Koidula rail border station.

5. Construction of the train X-ray complex at Koidula station, with a construction value of approximately EUR 2.5 million. The project included supply and installation of the X-ray unit, license plate recognition system, perimeter fencing with camera and lighting masts, and security systems.

6. Supply and installation of furnishings for the Koidula rail border station, with a value of approximately EUR 60,000. Furniture and interior equipment were supplied and installed in the station and office building and in the customs warehouse building, including workstations and custom-made furniture. In addition, technological equipment for the rail border station was supplied and installed at a value of approximately EUR 30,000.
