Project overview
Between 2017 and 2021, construction works were carried out under two separate construction contracts, while supervision was provided under a single supervision contract in which AS Taalri Varahaldus also participated as a subcontractor.
On the Kose-Ardu section, a 12 km Class I highway with a 2+2 cross-section was built on a new alignment, including the Kose-Risti and Ardu interchanges, one tunnel and one ecoduct for wildlife crossings. The section also includes culverts for amphibians and small animals. Intersections with local and secondary roads were made grade separated. Large volumes of peat were excavated and replaced with fill material. Noise barriers, wildlife fencing and a wildlife warning system for drivers were installed. The construction value was approximately EUR 36.7 million.
On the Ardu-Voobu section, a new 11.5 km Class I highway with a 2+2 cross-section was built on a new alignment, including the Pala, Saarnakorve and Mustla interchanges, bridges over the Lintsi and Pirita rivers, an ecoduct, amphibian tunnels and a small-animal tunnel. Approximately 268,000 m3 of peat was excavated and replaced with fill material. Noise barriers, wildlife fencing and a wildlife warning system for drivers were installed. The construction value was approximately EUR 27.6 million.
