Project overview
In 2015, design and construction works were carried out to complete the unfinished portion of the Kroodi overpass. This included preparation of the technical design needed to complete Kroodi I overpass, finalization of the structure and transfer of traffic onto the extension of Vana-Narva Road, after which the Vana-Narva Road railway crossing was removed.
To complete the overpass, intermediate piers founded on pile foundations had to be built on axes 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Previously manufactured ZIP-type girders were then installed, after which the deck slab was cast and the remaining works required to open the overpass were completed.
The overpass crosses five pairs of railway tracks and has an overall length of approximately 197 metres measured between the ends of the abutment wing walls. The project construction value was approximately EUR 1.1 million.
