Nehatu Bridges on the Tallinn-Narva Highway

2014 and 2015.

Project overview

In 2014 and 2015, the Nehatu bridges on the Tallinn-Narva highway were designed and built, with a construction value of nearly EUR 3.7 million.

The project involved demolition of the Nehatu I bridge on the outbound carriageway from Tallinn (a one-span steel modular girder bridge built in 1948) and the Nehatu II bridge on the inbound carriageway to Tallinn (a three-span precast reinforced concrete girder bridge built in 1966) on national road E20 at the Tallinn city boundary in Harju County. A temporary bridge was installed to enable the demolition works and was removed after the works were complete.

The new Nehatu I bridge on the outbound carriageway from Tallinn is a three-span composite bridge (14 m + 19.5 m + 14 m) with a deck width of 18.4 m. The new Nehatu II bridge on the inbound carriageway to Tallinn is also a three-span composite bridge (14 m + 19.5 m + 14 m) with the same 18.4 m deck width. The project also included reconstruction of approximately 650 metres of national road and construction of approximately 900 metres of pedestrian and bicycle path.
