Project overview
The objective of the works was to improve driving comfort and traffic safety. The existing 1+1 road section was rebuilt into a 2+1 road over 2.5 km, improving conditions for all road users and raising the level of traffic safety.
A new straighter road alignment was built in the direction of Tallinn at the Sauga River crossing, and a new four-span Nurmeveski bridge with a length of 153.7 metres was constructed. The carriageway in the direction of Parnu remained on the existing alignment. The works also increased the load-bearing capacity of the pavement, built the Nurme intersection, improved drainage systems, upgraded lighting at the Nurme intersection and built a pedestrian and bicycle path from the Janesselja roundabout to the Nurme intersection.
The construction works were carried out by Nurme Teedeehitus OU, the design was prepared by Skepast & Puhkim OU, and owner supervision was provided by AS Taalri Varahaldus. The total project value was EUR 5.2 million. Construction began in October 2016 and was completed in December 2017.
