2016 and 2017.

Project overview

In 2016 and 2017, environmental improvements and aviation safety upgrades were carried out on the airside at Tallinn Airport, with a construction value of approximately EUR 34.5 million.

As part of this complex and multifaceted project, the runway was extended by 420 metres and taxiways by approximately 1.1 km. About 3 km of runway pavement was reconstructed, and apron K, the de-icing area, engine testing area and snow storage areas were built over a total of approximately 100,000 m2. The runway safety strip was strengthened over more than 500,000 m2. Other major works included expansion and reconstruction of the entire airport lighting system, together with upgrades to navigation-related systems.
