Project overview
Between 2012 and 2015, Phase 2 of the Tartu bypass was designed and built, with AS Taalri Varahaldus participating as a subcontractor, primarily providing owner supervision for the Ihaste bridge construction works.
The Ihaste bridge is a reinforced concrete bridge on the southeastern edge of Tartu, crossing the Emajogi River and connecting Ihaste with the Ropka industrial area. The bridge has a total length of 400 metres, including a 90-metre span over the Emajogi. The remaining bridge structure extends across the Ropka-Ihaste floodplain on both sides of the river. Over the river, the total bridge width is 15.5 metres. The bridge carries a 1+1 carriageway and a 4-metre-wide pedestrian and bicycle path on one side. Transparent 1.4 m noise barriers were installed on the Ihaste bridge, and viewing platforms were built beside the two central piers. The total value of the full project was approximately EUR 21 million.
