Tartu East Bypass Phase 3

Construction of Phase 3 of the Tartu east bypass between Lammi Street and Rapina Road.

Project overview

The third construction phase of the Tartu eastern bypass is a 1.56 km road section from the Lammi Street roundabout to Rapina Road. In addition to the new section, parts of Moisavahe Street, Nolva Street and Soojuse Road were also rebuilt.

The project included construction of the main bypass route, the so-called Soojuse interchange, reconstruction of approximately 500 m of Moisavahe Street, and a pedestrian and bicycle network with two dedicated overpasses. In addition, a road viaduct was built on the main route at the Soojuse interchange.

The road section from the Lammi roundabout to Rapina Road forms part of the overall eastern bypass project. The 11.8 km Tartu eastern bypass connects the E263 Tallinn-Tartu-Voru-Luhamaa and E264 Johvi-Tartu-Valga highways.

Phase 3 of the Tartu eastern bypass was built by AS TREF, designed by Toner-Projekt OU and supervised by AS Taalri Varahaldus. The total value of Phase 3 was EUR 6.9 million. Construction of the third phase began in January 2017 and was completed in July 2018.
