Project overview
In 2004, rehabilitation works were carried out on the Tallinn-Narva highway (E20) and the Tallinn-Parnu-Ikla highway (E67) as part of the Via Baltica II project, with a construction value of approximately EUR 30 million.
As part of the Via Baltica II project, a total of 120.4 km of road sections on the Tallinn-Parnu-Ikla and Tallinn-Narva highways were repaired in Estonia in 2004. The total project cost was EUR 30.3 million, of which 75% was financed by the European Union and 25% was covered by the Estonian state budget.
The works included construction of new asphalt concrete pavements and complex stabilized base layers, improvement of embankments, installation of geogrid beneath the pavement to increase durability, use of geotextile to strengthen embankments, reconstruction of smaller bridges into steel culverts, installation of new traffic management equipment, pavement markings and landscaping of the road corridor.
